Ceramics and Light I—Natural Light Display
As ceramics reflect light in all directions, their appearances—particularly their colors and texture—will be affected by the quality and condition of lighting. We are thus strongly committed to optimal lighting for ceramic objects. Our museum is equipped with the world’s first and only natural light display room, in which natural daylight is taken in from the skylight, enabling viewers to appreciate the original tone and texture of the works.
Ceramics and Light II—The Latest LED Lighting Facilities
A proper and effective lighting system that draws out an object’s natural hue and texture is absolutely essential for ceramics display. We pay a lot of attention to the LED lighting system inside the display cases, adopting a violet-excitation LED lighting system, which provides lighting similar to natural daylight. Enjoy the world-class works of art whose charms never fade, and see the effect of the lighting we have chosen.
Protection from Seismic Vibrations—Earthquake Shock Absorbers
The object mounts placed inside the display cases are earthquake shock absorbers, which are highly sensitive and function as soon as they detect seismic vibration. The mounts will slide in all directions and absorb the shocks and vibrations to protect the artworks. This system, designed for MOCO, does not require securing the objects with wires, enabling visitors to view them without distraction.
Masterpieces Rotating―360-Degree Turntable
We have installed three display cases equipped with turntables that slowly rotate the objects to enable visitors to enjoy viewing the works from every angle. These MOCO original turntables, equipped with shock absorbers, are the world’s first devices with which our valuable objects can be viewed thoroughly while being protected from shocks and vibrations.
The Unsung Hero of the Exhibition— Suede Fabric
The object mounts used for display are covered with suede fabric made exclusively for our venue. The color of the fabric has been carefully selected to be close to ivory, ensuring it does not distract the artworks but rather enhances their beauty. Moreover, to achieve the optimal hue of the fabric, we have been using bespoke suede fabric made from highly durable imported materials since the time of opening.
For a Relaxed and Up-Close Art Appreciation — Armrests
In front of the glass display cases, we have installed bespoke wooden armrests made specially for our venue. Placing your arms or elbows here naturally brings your gaze closest to the artwork, allowing for a leisurely and thorough appreciation of the pieces. Moreover, they prove to be quite useful for taking notes or supporting yourself with both hands. The gentle, rounded design on the front greatly contributes to a relaxed and comfortable art-viewing experience.
